Inaugurations - December 4th, 2008

After reciting in Mi’kmaq, to an audience of about 100 people, Eskasoni Chief and Council Elect signed an oath to serve the community in an inauguration ceremony yesterday. Chief Charlie Dennis was the first to sign, followed by his council of twelve. As part of the ceremonies, Beverly Jeddore drummed and sang the Mi’kmaq honours song, she was soon accompanied by Chief and council in her chants.
A community feast followed the inaugural celebrations, while Chief and Council individually took the stage to offer thanks to their families and the community for their support in this year’s election.
